What is Metadata Editor?

View and edit a PDF's title, author, subject, keywords, producer, and creator metadata. Good for tidying up documents exported by miscellaneous tools (often with misleading or empty fields) before archiving or sharing them. The modification date is set automatically to the current date. Leaving any field blank clears that value.

How do I use Metadata Editor?

  1. Drop a PDF onto the upload zone.
  2. Edit any of the metadata fields — existing values are pre-filled from the source.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Click Download to save the updated PDF.

When should I use Metadata Editor?

Metadata Editor is a quick clean-up tool. If you also want to alter visual content (add a watermark, rotate pages), do that first with PDF Watermark or PDF Rotator, and edit metadata last.

Frequently asked
What metadata does the tool expose?

Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer, Creation Date, and Modification Date. All fields are editable and saved back into the Info dictionary and XMP stream.

Why would I want to strip metadata?

Metadata often leaks your name, your document-authoring software, and when the file was written. Strip it before publishing a PDF publicly or sharing with strangers.

Does editing metadata change the visible page content?

No. Metadata lives in the PDF header and is invisible to readers — only document-properties dialogs and search engines see it.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your files never leave your device, and there is no server component for this tool.
