Why this one does not upload your CV

A resume carries your home address, your phone number, your current employer and your entire work history in one file. Every other checker asks you to hand that to a server, usually behind a signup, and the popular one charges $49.95 a month for it. Everything here runs in this tab. There is no account, no scan limit and no email wall, and every check tells you exactly what rule it applied so you can disagree with it.

What is ATS Resume Checker?

Check a resume against the things that actually decide whether it gets read: whether an applicant tracking system can parse it at all, and whether the writing gives a reviewer anything concrete. Every check names the rule it applied, shows the lines that triggered it, and says what to do, because the loudest complaint about this category of tool is that the scores are arbitrary and unexplained. It runs entirely in your browser, which matters more here than on most tools: a CV carries your home address, your phone number and your current employer in one file. There is no account, no scan limit and no email wall.

How do I use ATS Resume Checker?

  1. Drop your resume as a PDF, .docx or .txt, or paste the text.
  2. Read the parsing checks first: single column, standard headings, plain-text contact details, real dates.
  3. Expand any check to see the exact rule and the lines that triggered it.
  4. Optionally paste a job advert to see which of its terms are missing.

When should I use ATS Resume Checker?

Use this before sending an application, and again after tailoring it to a specific advert. To check what a parser can actually read from a PDF, the extracted-text panel here shows exactly that. To convert a PDF resume into an editable document, use PDF to Word. If your PDF is a scan, run OCR first.

Frequently asked questions

Is my resume uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and analysed in this browser tab and nothing is transmitted. This matters more than on most tools: a CV contains your home address, phone number, personal email and current employer together in one document, and every other checker asks you to hand that to a server, usually behind a signup.

Do applicant tracking systems really score resumes?

Not in the way the marketing around this category implies. An ATS parses your document into fields and lets a recruiter search and filter them; there is no hidden score inside it rejecting you. That is why the parsing checks here come first: single column, conventional headings, plain-text contact details, real dates. Those decide whether your information arrives at all. The writing checks are about the human who reads it next.

Where does the score come from?

It is the checks on the page, weighted by how much each failure matters, and nothing else. You can recount it from the list yourself. That is deliberate: an unexplained number is the thing people most distrust about these tools, and it is also what makes them easy to sell upgrades against.

Why is my multi-column resume flagged as critical?

Because parsers read a page in one pass and frequently interleave side-by-side columns into nonsense, so a sidebar of skills can end up spliced through your job history. Detection works by looking for vertical bands of the page that no text crosses. A single-column layout looks plainer and survives.

What counts as a quantified bullet?

One containing a figure a reader can weigh: a percentage, a currency amount, a multiplier, or a number attached to something countable such as users, hours or records. "Improved performance" is a claim. "Cut page load from 4.2s to 1.1s" is evidence. Aim for at least half your bullets.

How does the keyword check work?

It takes the terms the job advert repeats, plus anything that looks like a technology or a proper noun, and checks which appear anywhere in your resume. Generic hiring language and stop words are ignored. Add the missing terms only where they are genuinely true of you: a pasted keyword list reads badly to a human, and modern parsers weight surrounding context rather than counting occurrences.

Does it use AI?

No, and it does not need to. Almost everything the paid tools in this space check is a rule: keyword overlap, whether bullets contain numbers, whether they open with a strong verb, whether sections are findable, whether dates are consistent. Building it as rules is why it works offline in every browser, needs no download, and can explain every finding instead of producing an opinion you cannot question.

My PDF scored badly on length with very few words. Why?

Usually because most of its text is inside images or text boxes that a parser cannot read, rather than because the document is short. Open the extracted-text panel: what you see there is what an applicant tracking system gets. If it is nearly empty, that is the single most important thing to fix.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your files never leave your device, and there is no server component for this tool.
