My PDF converted to an empty document. Why?
It is almost certainly a scan: a picture of text with no text layer, which is nothing to extract. The tool detects this and says which pages are affected rather than handing you a blank file. Run the PDF through the OCR tool first, then convert its output.
How are headings detected?
By font size relative to the body text on the same page, plus boldness, plus brevity. A short line noticeably larger than the surrounding text becomes a heading; a long passage does not, whatever its size. The detection is deliberately conservative, because a wrongly inserted heading is more disruptive in Word than a missed one.
Do images come across?
Not in this version. The output carries text structure: paragraphs, headings and lists. If the document is mostly images, PDF to JPG will get you the pictures and this tool will get you the words.
